Less is more! You have a boat that is not designed to go fast in a place that is not the best, go fast. Go to the stroke of four 6-10 PS - You have no tides and currents of the struggle and it will be fun and frugal. To examine, a trolling motor power - when the main engine has a load capacity it will be a good combination. If the boat is able to see you, they recommend 7HP. http://www.directboats.com/waco14jonboat ...
Meanwhile 20hp to:

I have a 15HP gas engine and 85 thrust trolling motor on me. Not a speed demon, but the traction motor that moves so far on the river with a working Knott 8, where I need or like to go.

As a boy fishing in the state of Louisiana on 14 'with 6HP hard JONBOAT. Pretty good, but 10 is better. During our drive motor was a rowboat. ;)

30 pounds of traction motor is more than enough.

I would recommend something 15 to 25 hp. We have put in place quickly, but still enough light to start and l '.
A trolling motor i recommend 30 to motor 35 pounds Minkota.
